Ye have not chosen me

"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. They bound His hands

Luke 22:50-51 (KJV) "And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. John 18:12 (KJV)" Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,"

The last thing Jesus did before His hands were bound was to heal!!! The soldiers who saw that miracle bound those healing hands!!! How could they do it?

One stick a-day

Sometimes I compare the troubles which we have to undergo in the course of the year to a great bundle of logs, "far to large for us to lift."

But God does not require us to carry the whole at once; He mercifully unties the bundle, and gives us first one stick, which we are to carry today, and then another which we are to carry tomorrow, and so on.

This we might easily manage, if we would only take the burden appointed for us each day; but we chose to increase our troubles by carrying yesterdays stick over again today, and adding tomorrow's burden to our load, before we are required to bear it.
